Great River Race group on the river in a canoe with wigs on

by Amelia Zakrzewski, MICC Activities Team Lead

On Saturday, August 29th, five participants and two staff members took on Wilderness Inquiry‘s Great Wild River Race! We all showed up with great attitudes, high spirits, and the goal of giving it our best.

Before heading out onto the river, we thought, “Six miles? That’s nothing!” Little did we know what we were getting ourselves into! Once we got on the river and started canoeing, we quickly realized we were in for quite an adventure.

All of the participants had an amazing time canoeing and are already looking forward to coming back and participating again next year. Although we didn’t place in the race, we still came out winners by taking home the Best Dressed Team award!

Throughout the race, our participants kept the energy high by leading the group in songs, cheering everyone on, and keeping spirits up all the way down the river. Their enthusiasm and teamwork made the experience one we won’t soon forget.

We may not have won the race, but we definitely won when it came to teamwork, fun, and making memories!

Until next year!
