For Autism Acceptance Month, MICC graduate Jenna Olson and CEO Amy Gudmestad stopped by KSTP to chat with Megan Newquist and Chris Egert!

On the set of Minnesota Live, Amy and Jenna shared how MICC – Minnesota Independence College and Community is meeting the growing demand for services for neurodivergent adults. The segment highlighted our College, Workplace Readiness, and Summer programs—all designed to support neurodivergent adults to live independently, work with purpose, and thrive in community.

Amy talked about the history of MICC and our programs, “MICC has been around for 30 years in the Twin Cities! We have neurodivergent adults, 18 and older, coming from all over the state of Minnesota to have a learning experience about how to live on their own, how to have a job, how to make friends. They ultimately live independently outside of their parents’ home.”

A special shoutout to MICC graduate Jenna, who shared her inspiring journey through the MICC College program, her future goals, and her love for hockey!

Jenna shared, “I learned about MICC through a resource fair at my high school, and then upon further investigation it was a really great program. We went to a first visit and you learn what is MICC, what is it about. In our second visit, I actually got to do a tour so we got to see the community MICC is.”

Thank you, KSTP, for the opportunity to shine a light on autistic acceptance and MICC.
