MICC graduate Camille ‘24 was recently named Employee of the Month by her employer, Kinderplatz! Camille found her job as a floater aide at Kinderplatz in Bloomington with the help of her job developer while finishing up her senior year at MICC in 2024. Her role involves helping with toddlers or preschoolers with daily tasks, and she has now been employed there for two years! This isn’t the first time she has been named Employee of the Month, she also received the recognition in June 2025.

Camille grew up near MICC in Bloomington, and after high school, she found that she struggled to find a job. Her dad told her about MICC, thinking it was a good option for her. With help from state funding, Camille was able to apply so she could start her journey to become independent. She says, “MICC has helped me gain employment and control with my mental health.”

Arriving on campus was scary at first! Camille shares, “My first few weeks on campus was an easy transition but anxiety inducing, what I liked about it was making new friends and what was hard was being socially active.” The most important skill Camille learned at MICC was being able to cook recipes on her own. She says her proudest accomplishment was learning to be open to trying new things!

Camille graduated from MICC’s College program in 2024 with health and human sciences certificate, around the same time that she found her job at Kinderplatz. She is still involved with MICC through the Community program and receiving services. She recently attended MICC’s Class of 2026 graduation ceremony to congratulate and celebrate the newest graduates! When asked about the future, Camille says, “I see myself in five years staying with Kinderplatz.”

Congratulations, Camille!
