You are Welcome Here
Participants take great pride in their MICC community and the inclusive, self-empowering environment they help to create.
Celebrating Differences
We are all in this together, and MICC is a place of acceptance and belonging. We embrace and celebrate all of you: your identity, your interests, your abilities. As one participant so eloquently said, “MICC is a melting pot of uniqueness.”
Staff like Family
Building trust between MICC team members and participants isn’t just critical, it’s a requirement. These relationships help participants grow and progress in the face of challenges and to ultimately trust themselves as they engage in relationship building outside MICC.
Booked, busy & having fun
At MICC, we build life, career and social skills by DOING! On campus, in the workplace, in the community, participants learn in each environment, building comfort, confidence, adaptability and resiliency…and have fun while doing it!
Our Urban Hometown!
The City of Richfield, Minnesota, has been MICC’s home since 1996. An inner-ring suburb of Minneapolis, Richfield is a close-knit community with great neighborhoods, parks, schools and businesses.
A part of a greater metropolitan area, Richfield offers easy accessibility to shopping districts including the Mall of America, major sports teams, museums, lakes, a vibrant arts and theater community and so much more! While Minnesota is notorious for its winters, we have four seasons and there’s always something to do winter, spring, summer or fall!
We’re on a Metro Transit line which offers an integrated network of buses, light rail and commuter trains.
Twin Cities has the best park systems in the US. Donaldson Park and Woodlake Nature Center are just a stroll away!
MICC participants will have amazing access to any type of shopping they need. Walk, drive, bike, scooter or bus!
The Twin Cities has one of the healthiest economies in the country with a diverse workforce and company base.
Life at MICC
MICC participants take great pride in the diversity of their MICC community and the inclusive, self-empowering environment of acceptance, belonging and joy they not only experience but also help to create.
You are welcome here.
living independently
Living independently doesn’t mean you do it alone! Participants live with roommates, build ‘adulting’ skills — cooking, money matters, home care and more —and have a great time doing it!
working purposefully
Participants explore their interests and talents while building skills in fun and engaging ways. Practicums, tours, guest speakers help participants choose and prepare for their chosen career.
thriving in community
We build life skills at MICC, and like our independent living and employment skills, social skills are built over time and through activities and experiences that are both serious and seriously fun!
College Life
Like traditional colleges, MICC’s College program is typically the first real experience of independence for participants. College is the place to learn important life skills, explore your strengths and make lifelong friendships.
family life
Every journey to MICC is unique. It is safe to say that as the parent/guardian or a trusted adult of a neurodivergent individual, you’ve been more involved in your emerging adult’s schooling than the average family member. You have a place at MICC!
