MICC

This year, MICC’s 22nd Annual Gala, themed ‘The Game of Life: Choose Your Own Adventure,’ was an incredible celebration of our participants, their journeys to independence, and our generous community.

On Saturday, March 15, 2025, The Depot in Minneapolis was alive with the spirit of inclusivity and achievement, bringing together more than 700 community members— making it one of our largest gala gatherings ever!

Event Highlights

  • We exceeded our fundraising goal, raising record-breaking donations for MICC! These funds help expand our programs and solidify our commitment to the thriving futures of neurodivergent individuals.
  • The MICC Rock Band’s performance of Bon Jovi’s “It’s My Life,” accompanied by an exuberant participant processional, set an upbeat tone for the evening.

  • An inspiring video featuring MICC participants Julia, Cole, and Cory, and showcasing how they each experience different stages of their journey to independence.
  • Amy Gudmestad, event co-emcee and MICC CEO, greeted attendees and shared thanks for their presence, “I am deeply proud of MICC’s accomplishments and even more excited for the road ahead. But looking around the room and seeing so many familiar faces tonight fills my heart with gratitude—thank you for standing by us, believing in our mission, and making MICC what it is today. “
  • Aaron C., a MICC participant and gala co-emcee, shared his MICC journey, reminding us that MICC is more than a program – it’s a strong community where lives are transformed. “I am really proud of all I have accomplished during my journey at MICC.  I have developed so many independent living skills, like learning how to deal with drama, asking for help when I need it, and learning how to cook harder recipes.”

  • Linda Rundle, a parent of a participant, shared her family’s story about the bonds their daughter created with peers while at MICC that will have a lasting impact on each family’s lives. “She is thriving in a way we never imagined. Independence, belonging, possibilities – we couldn’t have done it without MICC and for that, our family is eternally grateful. But MICC didn’t just change Lyndsey’s life—it changed ours, too. We, as parents, found a tribe of our own.”

“The best night of the year!” – Gaby, MICC participant

We asked our MICC participants what they thought about this year’s gala! Gaby shared it was, “The best night of the year!” Matt liked “how we were laid out this year for registration. And as always, the food is great!” Lyndsey enjoyed the opportunity to celebrate with family and friends, and “my mom’s speech made people cry!” Dinah appreciated auctioneer Glen who is “always hilarious” and the chance to “dress up without being judged!” Ann re-iterated “the atmosphere is always welcoming.” Finally, Dustin thinks the “activities for families to do are always unique every year” and that if you didn’t attend, “you have no idea what you’re missing!”

What an amazing night! The sentiment was unanimous — we are all here to support MICC participants are their incredible journeys to a vibrant, independent life.
