A Missions
Report from Averill and Kathy Allen
Yes, the rumors are true…the Allens are moving to
Chiang Mai, Thailand!!
As most of you know, we spent 12 years in Guatemala
and 4 years in Russia ministering to missionaries
through education and counseling, and have been
waiting on God to show us the next step. We knew
when we came to MICC nine years ago that He would
likely send us overseas again, but we didn’t know
when or where.
The story that led to our decision is one of God’s
loving guidance every step of the way. We’d be
happy to share the details…feel free to ask either
one of us.
Averill will continue his position as program
coordinator for Mission to Unreached Peoples (www.mup.org).
He will likely do some traveling as he helps
missionaries develop. He will help
outline for officials of closed countries plans of
how they propose to work alongside local people to
help solve difficult educational, social, or health
problems, that the officials will value enough to
issue visas so they can live and work with the
people they would lead to Christ.
Kathy will serve as a therapist at Cornerstone
Counseling Foundation where she will minister
to missionaries and their families, not only in
Thailand, but also in surrounding countries (www.cornerstonecounseling.in.th).
She will also continue to provide member care for
the Covenant missionary team.
On June 24, we will be commissioned as “Covenanters
in Mission” at the Annual Meeting in Portland.
Please pray for us
as we prepare to leave around July 15, God willing.
There is much to be done in the next 2 months,
including sorting, packing, shipping, and storing
our belongings, as well as making trips to visit
family and friends.
In addition, both of us must raise full support, as
we will be serving as volunteers in our ministries.
God has already prompted several of you to partner
with us in prayer and/or financial support for which
we are extremely thankful. We only have about half
of our
support, so are walking by faith…if God has called
us, He will provide for our needs. We trust Him as
Jehovah-Jireh. If you sense that He would have you
participate in our ministry
to those who serve on the “front lines” as they
spread the Good News in word and deed, please
contact us.
You cannot imagine how difficult it will be for us
to leave all of you. You are our family and
we love every one of you. Please consider coming to
visit us in Thailand.
If
you are not
already on our mailing list, send us a note at
averillandkathy@msn.com
so we can add you.
Everywhere we go, we will tell everyone about
Christ. We warn them and teach them with all the
wisdom God has given us, for we want to
present them to God, mature in their relationship to
Christ. [We] work very hard at this, as [we] depend
on Christ’s mighty power that works within [us].
