What is the course about?

A series of eight sessions, plus a session on finances, designed to help a married couple strengthen their relationship.

The Marriage Course is very practical and will help equip you with the tools needed to build a healthy marriage that lasts a lifetime.

It’s a great opportunity to spend time together as a couple looking at the important issues in your marriage.

Each week you will be given the opportunity to enjoy a special meal together and listen to a talk. There is plenty of time to discuss the topic as a couple. There is no group work involved at any stage of the course, and at no time will you be asked to share with a larger group

Who is the course for?

It is for any married couple who wants to work together and invest in their relationship.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve been married for less than two years or more than thirty.

If you have a strong marriage, this course will help you make it even stronger and will reinforce your good habits. If, on the other hand, your marriage is in difficulty, the course will help provide you with very practical tools to help you work through the issues.

While the course is based on Christian principles, couples are welcome with or without a church background. Many couples who are not churchgoers have enjoyed and benefited from doing the course.

Format:

Each evening starts with a dessert at a private table for you and your spouse.

During the interactive video presentation, couples will periodically talk together about the video and discuss workbook questions. Conversations are private, with music playing in the background.

Homework will be given at the end of each session; this is an opportunity for the couple to work together before the next session.  The homework will not be reviewed; it is for your own benefit, to encourage discussion as a couple at home.

Facilitators:  Ray & Gay Brook

Ray & Gay Brook will be facilitating the video course that was developed by Nicky and Sila Lee of Great Britian. The Lees are on staff at Holy Trinity Brompton, London, the church that started the Alpha Marriage Course. The course is now being offered internationally . They have spoken to thousands on the subject of marriage and are the co-authors of The Marriage Book which has sold over 52,000 copies since it was published in 2000.

Ray and Gay have 65 years of combined marriage experience, Ray having been widowed and Gay divorced.  They offer a unique persepective and a wealth of experience.

Their life challenges include; death of a spouse, death of a child, death of parent, miscarriage and other life experiences.
