Alpha isn't meeting during the winter...
but will start back up in the Spring!
The Alpha Course offers the opportunity to explore the meaning
of life.
“The Alpha class and follow up discipleship classes have
been most helpful in growing my Faith
and I would like to help others by facilitating, serving in
the Alpha courses or other adult classes.”
Questions, questions, questions.
What is the point of life? What happens when
we die? What relevance does Jesus have for our lives today?
How do we deal with guilt? We all have questions.
The Alpha Course provides an accepting
atmosphere in which to ask questions.
Everyone is welcome in the Alpha Course and people attend for
a variety of reasons.
Some want to investigate whether God exists
and if there is any point to life; others are concerned
about what happens after death. Still others may have
attended church on and off all their lives but feel they
have never really understood the basics of the Christian
faith.
Alpha is for...
-
Those wanting to investigate
Christianity.
-
New Christians.
-
Those who feel that they have never
really got going as a Christian.
-
Newcomers to the church.
-
Those who want to brush up on the
basics.
People come from many different backgrounds,
holding many different viewpoints – but all come with the
same objective: to establish whether Jesus Christ has any
real relevance for their lives.

Alpha is
-
an eleven week opportunity to explore
the validity and relevance of the Christian faith for
our lives today.
-
It is a practical introduction to the
basics of Christianity with loads of opportunity for
debate and discussion.
-
Informal, friendly and non-pressured.
-
Alpha is enjoyed and appreciated as much
by those who have never set foot in a church as it is by
the regular attender. No matter what their background,
whether investigating Christianity for the first time or
revisiting their faith, participants get a lot out of
the Alpha Course.
Each Wednesday evening we begin with a buffet
dinner which is served from 5:30 pm.
The class starts on October
11th at 6:30 pm with a talk by
Nicky Gumbel on video. The topics include “Who is Jesus?”,
“How can I be sure of my faith?”, and “Does God still heal
today?” After a break for coffee and tea, we gather in
discussion groups that conclude promptly at 8:30 pm.
Childcare and a children’s program for grades K-5 are
provided.
There are over 5,000 Alpha courses running in
the USA
And, about 1,000,000 people in North America
have already participated. Alpha originated at Holy Trinity
Brompton, an Anglican church in London, England over 20
years ago. It is directed by Nicky Gumbel, an ordained
Anglican clergyman, whose gives the talks that we show on
video.
There is no charge for the Alpha Course.
The dinner beforehand costs $3.00 per
person. If you have questions, or if you want to
register for the Alpha Course, please call the church
office at 206.232.1015 ext. 100, or Email Terry Ball at
